Face cloth and washcloth are often used for similar small washing textiles, with terminology varying by market. A wholesale buyer should confirm the intended use and actual specification rather than treating the names as fixed construction grades.
Start with the product brief
Give the finished dimensions, composition, target fabric weight and edge construction. Describe whether the item is sold alone, in a multipack or as part of a towel set. If several colours or sizes are included, list the exact component count.
Ask for representative finished samples. A fabric swatch cannot show the final hem, corner, label position or packing. Record the agreed measurement method and tolerances.
Review construction and surface feel
Assess the complete item, including pile or textured surfaces and any decorative border. A soft initial handle is a sample observation, not proof of a skin-care benefit. Avoid health or hypoallergenic claims unless the buyer has appropriate product-specific evidence and an approved basis for the wording.
- Confirm finished measurements and composition.
- Approve hem and corner construction.
- Record weight and relevant tolerances.
- Assess lint, colour transfer and washed dimensions.
- Review labels and final packed presentation.
Use a repeatable wash assessment
Wash the sample using the intended care process and record the conditions. Review surface appearance, seams and dimensional change beside an unwashed reference. Agree acceptance criteria with the supplier before bulk production.
If the cloth is part of a coordinated towel family, compare shade and border appearance across the whole assortment. The smaller item should be approved separately even when it shares a fabric description with the bath towel.
Make retail packing clear
State the number of pieces, their individual dimensions and the colours included. Confirm the fold, wrap, barcode and care information. Keep photographs consistent with the supplied pack so the customer can understand the quantity being offered.
