A beach towel size should describe the finished product your customer receives. Labels such as standard, oversized and family size do not provide a reliable basis for comparing suppliers. Put dimensions, measurement conditions and tolerances into the purchase specification.
Start with the intended use
A towel carried in a small beach bag has a different brief from a resort lounger towel or a large promotional item. Decide whether the product mainly dries the user, covers a seat or provides space on the sand. Check a full-size sample in that setting before committing to a range.
For example, a buyer considering 75 × 150 cm and 90 × 180 cm towels should compare more than the extra length. At an illustrative 450 GSM, the fabric-area calculation gives approximately 506 g and 729 g respectively, before allowing for construction and finishing differences. The larger area changes packing volume and the quantity that fits into an assortment.
State how size will be checked
Specify length and width in centimetres, whether fringes are included, and whether acceptance applies before washing, after an agreed wash trial, or both. Ask the supplier to propose realistic tolerances and record the agreement. There is no useful universal shrinkage allowance for every construction.
- Record the finished size and edge treatment.
- Identify the measurement and wash method.
- Confirm weight, composition and face construction.
- Approve the artwork layout for each size.
- Keep a labelled reference sample.
Scale the design deliberately
A stripe or logo placed on a smaller towel may sit differently on an oversized version. Show the artwork dimensions and its distance from the finished edges. If the design is woven or printed, approve the relevant development sample as well as the overall size.
Check both sides and the folded presentation. A logo that looks balanced on an open towel may disappear inside a retail wrap. Review the actual proposed fold with its label and barcode.
Compare quotations on the same packing basis
Request quantities by size and colour, pieces per carton, carton dimensions and the intended individual packaging. Clarify whether minimum quantities apply to the whole collection or to each size and colour. Do not assume a larger towel has the same production or packing terms.
